Callie Dunaway: Volunteer Relations Manager

Callie Dunaway has joined the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center as the program manager of volunteer relations. Ms. Dunaway previously served as the volunteer coordinator for UAB Hospital. She is a graduate of Samford University with a degree in human development and family studies.

In her new role, Ms. Dunaway will develop, implement and manage the volunteer program for the Cancer Center's IMCCP initiative. She will work closely with physicians, nurses and community members to recruit volunteers with the ultimate goal of enhancing the patient experience.

“For many people, entering the UAB system is a daunting task, especially in the difficult time following a cancer diagnosis,” Ms. Dunaway says. “The goal of our volunteer program is to make the process easier, whether that means guiding patients to their appointments, answering questions or just telling them where the nearest restaurant is. We want cancer patients at UAB to have the best experience possible.”

If you are interested in becoming a Cancer Center volunteer, contact Ms. Dunaway at (205) 996-5364 or callie.dunaway@ccc.uab.edu.
