IN 2011, THE UAB COMPREHENSIVE CANCER

CENTER FORMED NEW LIGHT, a support group

for patients, survivors and their families touched

by triple-negative breast cancer. Funded by

the Susan G. Komen North Central Alabama

Affiliate, the group educates families about

triple-negative breast cancer treatment and care.

At New Light’s quarterly meetings, oncology

professionals and research scientists from the

Cancer Center provide insight into managing

the disease—one of the most aggressive and

difficult-to-treat forms of breast cancer.
