Outreach Core

The Community Outreach Core directs its focus toward achieving two major goals. The core develops and implements a Community Action Plan to increase cancer screenings, physical activity and healthy eating among those unscreened/unreached by previous educational and outreach efforts. The core also designs and implements culturally relevant outreach strategies to increase awareness of and participation in biomedical research.

The overall goal of the Community Outreach is to use Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) principle to develop and implement a community action plan (CAP) to: 1) increase cancer screening, physical activities, and health eating among those who were unscreened or unreached by previous educational and outreach efforts; and 2) lay the ground work to initiate a series of discussions in our targeted counties on bio-specimen and bio-banking to guide the development of a second CAP, specifically aimed at designing and implementing culturally relevant outreach strategies to increase awareness of and participation in biomedical research.
