Overview:

The Cancer Cell Biology (CCB) Program encompasses a multidisciplinary group of investigators with expertise in three thematic areas. These include 1) Signal Transduction Pathways; 2) Tumor Microenvironment and Metastasis; and 3) Cellular Machinery and Mechanisms of Tumorigenesis. The over-arching goals of the CCB Program are to facilitate the highest caliber of basic science research related to the thematic focus areas.

There are 40 members from 14 departments and four schools with annual direct research support in the amount of $14.8 million, including near $4 million from the National Cancer Institute. The CCB Program is closely integrated with other programs of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, including Tumor Immunology, Neuro-Oncology, Experimental Therapeutics, and Cancer Control and Population Sciences. Program members are involved in the Breast Cancer and Brain Tumor Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) grants as Project Leaders and recipients of Developmental Awards.
