HPV Delta Women's Health Initiative PDF Print E-mail

The HPV Delta Women’s Health Initiative is a formal collaboration with the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics to conduct an exploratory study for self-collection sampling for HPV Testing. This project evaluates efficacy and safety of a self-administered HPV test in the Mississippi Delta in four of the counties currently served by the Deep South Network. The ultimate goal is to reduce cervical cancer disparity in this area by utilizing an innovative method of cervical cancer screening.

Primary Objective

--Increase the number of women who are able to receive cervical cancer awareness information.

--Provide an alternative, more convenient method of cancer screening.

--Assist in reducing barriers to cervical cancer screening.

DSN volunteers (CHARPs) play a vital role in assisting National Cancer Institute staff with disseminating information regarding the project and research staff in recruiting participants.
