HIV-Associated Malignancy Pilot Research Program PDF Print E-mail

The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) in conjunction with the UAB Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) has received supplemental funding from the NCI to fund 2-4 pilot projects focused on HIV-Associated Malignancies. The budget available for these projects will range from $50,000 to $100,000 for one year only. Research projects examining cancers that predominately affect, or have an increased incidence in, HIV-infected individuals, and/or the basic mechanisms of HIV virus infection that leads to cancer, are encouraged. The intent of this program is to provide initial funding to multi-investigator research teams with an interest in HIV-associated malignancy that leadds to NIH extramural funding.

 

Application (NIH R21 Style on PHS 398 Forms):

--Project Co-Leaders: one member of the CCC and one member of the CFAR
--Investigators with joint membership will need to declare either CCC or CFAR affiliated for the purpose of the application
--One-Year Detailed Budget

 

Relevance and Specific Aims are limited to one page:

--HIV-Associated Malignancy Relevance
--Specific Aims

 

Research Strategy up to 6 pages maximum containing the following components:

--Significance (including preliminary data helpful but not required)
--Innovation
--Approach (including description of research strategy)
