UAB: Comprehensive Cancer Center

Madeline Harris received her BSN in 1975 and her MSN in 1990 both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. In 1994, the Interdisciplinary Breast Heath Clinic (IDBC) was established and then expanded its services in 1998. To date, it is the only breast clinic in the state which provides comprehensive coordinated breast health services.

In 2002, Ms. Harris spearheaded “Climb for the Cause,” a group of breast cancer survivors and caregivers who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. In 2004, she developed “For the Cause,” which provides adventures to breast cancer survivors and their caregivers. To date, Ms. Harris continues to work with breast cancer survivors through the UAB School of Nursing.
