UAB: Comprehensive Cancer Center

The New Light support group for triple negative breast cancer patients, survivors and their families held its most recent meeting on December 4 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

More than 120 people attended the meeting of this newly formed support group, which has been growing dramatically since being formed in spring 2011. New Light is funded by the Susan G. Komen North Central Alabama Affiliate and provides families with understanding about triple negative breast cancer treatment and care.

At the group's quarterly meetings, oncology professionals and research scientists, such as Andres Forero, M.D., professor in the UAB Division of Hematology and Oncology and Cancer Center senior scientist, provide insight into managing the disease, one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer.
