Too often, cancer patients in treatment lose their sense of taste, which can have a serious impact on nutrition and social relationships. The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, Virginia College and Cooking with Cancer, Inc., will offer patients and their families a series of cooking classes with simple recipes designed to re-awaken taste buds and appetites.

Teaming Up to Fight Cancer |

The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and UAB Men's Basketball are teaming up Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, for the fourth annual Bartow Classic, a fundraiser for the Coach Gene Bartow Fund for Cancer Research. This also will be the last time the UAB Blazers will face the University of Memphis Tigers as Conference USA rivals.

Eat Responsibly for Sweet on a Cure |

Dec. 3-9, 2012, the Young Supporters Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center will host Sweet on a Cure, an event in which 29 Birmingham-area bakeries, cafes, restaurants and catering companies will sell designated desserts with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support leading-edge cancer research.
