Rays of Hope

Construction is moving along steadily on UAB's new, state-of-the-art radiation oncoology facility, with completion expected in 2009.

The Hazelrig-Salter Radiation Oncology Facility will include more than 50,000 square feet for patient care, research and administrative space. The treatment rooms will be equipped with the newest and most promising therapies in radiation oncology, including High Dose Radiation Brachytherapy, Electronic Portal Imaging, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy and Image Guided Radiation Therapy. Patients will be able to receive their treatments in a timely, comfortable manner.

Special attention will be paid to ensure that treatment and waiting rooms are warm, comfortable and spacious. This is especially important since radiation patients often must receive treatment every day for six to eight weeks at a time.

Other amenities include ample parking, a children’s play area as well as the James Limbaugh Family Park of Hope: In Memory of Phyllis Limbaugh, which will be a beautiful park where patients and families can relax.

For information on Rays of Hope giving opportunities, please contact Sherri Van Pelt at (205) 934-0930.
